Out in rain--and back in rain
Currently at Toronto Pearson: 4. High today: 8. There was actual genuine snow on the ground just a few days ago. Mostly, until today, it has been raining since, uh, time immemorial. We do all have short memories when it comes to the weather. The way the forecasts are shaping up, if it doesn't hit 20 at UW on Thursday, the first-time-to-20-degrees contest may very well run into May this year for the first time. I had March 31.
If I had not gotten me a macro lens, I probably would never have known that this apparently innocuous little moth that had plastered itself to the back door today--

--was actually so evil-looking.
I am cautiously optimistic that I have defeated the groundhog(s) with just a bit more chicken wire. No sightings, and no further chard damage, in the last five days, anyway.
Lots of song sparrows around these days. I wonder if I would even notice them if I didn't see and hear them all the time at the cottage. I never used to notice song sparrows in the city. Then again, I used to notice chipping sparrows, so, I dunno, maybe.
