And the house creaks a little

Currently at Toronto Pearson: 29.

Today is the 20th anniversary of the coup against Gorbachev. In a couple of weeks, that will be less than twice as long ago as September 11. How about that.

We went to Fredericton a few months ago ... no wonder it seems like longer since the Soviet coup; it seems like years since the beginning of the summer. My favourite picture from Fredericton:

Here's the groundhog, Fred (or one of the groundhogs, Freds), that kept eating my squash plants through June and July, to my great despair:

No groundhogs in about a month--more vengeful gardeners than me in the neighbourhood? My squash have made an astounding comeback; whether too little, too late, we'll see.

Hanging a bird feeder in a bird cage stand is endlessly entertaining:

Our community garden has been repurposed to a groundhog buffet, too. I did not even know that groundhogs liked squash plants.

They left my squash alone until they were finished decimating my beans. They even seemed to have eaten some thistle leaves. But apparently they don't touch tomatoes, and they seemed to eat just a couple of leaves off my pepper plants.
