It managed to stay just clear enough just long enough for me to determine that we do in fact have just far enough a horizon here--where by "here" I mean pressed up against the cinder-block wall--to see Mercury in the morning these days:

That's it down there between the wires; Venus in the middle, and Saturn up in the tree. Given how rarely I see Mercury--this morning was, what, now the fourth or fifth time I've ever seen it and known I was seeing it, and the third or fourth time this year--it's amazing how bright and distinct it can be.
