Currently at Toronto Pearson: 21. High today: 27. Dewpoint has fallen into single digits for the first time since early on June 15. Thunderstorms dropped the temperature from 33 to 23 between 5 and 6 yesterday; the dewpoint started dropping from 20 to 16-17 after midnight, and then slowly from 16 to 9 between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. It's kind of surprising how much cooler it doesn't feel at 28.2 and 29% RH in my corner here today--or at 32 today as opposed to 39 yesterday out in the solarium.

Yesterday I gave Jo(e) a spanking. No foolin'.

I never would've thought six months ago, let alone six years ago, that I'd wind up mostly posting pictures here. My camera's failure to produce qualifying pictures for a contest I wanted to enter has greatly contributed to my thinking I ought to get a better camera. (Did you know that the "DPI" number that comes up when you look at the properties of your pictures is completely meaningless? I did not know that until I was poking around the internet last week trying to figure out whether my camera could possibly produce pictures of 300 dpi at 8.5 x 11 inches. (Answer: nowhere close. Megapixels do matter, kids; don't let the snobs tell you otherwise.)) Anyone out there have any opinions on cameras? Seeing as the end of my academic career seems to be staring me in the face again (and again and again), on one hand, an SLR seems like a hard expense to justify, but on the other hand, it could be an investment in my new career as, uh, a bug photographer. Yeah.
