After the last few weeks, it feels like fall. But when I got back from Montreal, the roses were all in bloom. These last several years the spring flowers haven't been as happy as they should be for me because I've kept seeing them as already gone. This year I wasn't quite as sad about it because I felt more like something else would come along. I didn't know that it would be the roses. Maybe next year I'll remember the roses, and see roses instead of death and decay in the blooming tulips. And in the roses something else, in something else ... the hibiscus and the crysanthemums, and in those now the asters! and in the asters the snow, and in the snow the snowdrops, in the snowdrops the crocuses, the daffodils, the hyacinths, the tulips ... and maybe a year or several later I'll see in the tulips not only the roses but everything all the way around to the tulips again, and maybe, some year, I'll see in the tulips the tulips, the tulips, the tulips, the tulips.... Eternal return!
(I actually opened this to post some stuff I wrote elsewhere about Israel and the flotilla, or Israel on the occasion of the flotilla, but ... maybe later.)
