High temp today in TO: 2. Dewpoint then: 1. High dewpoint: 1.

Tonight on Gregg & Company, Alan Gregg interviewed the American author of a new book on the Seven Years' War, who said that it was started by George Washington ambushing some sleeping French troops west of Pittsburgh. Never heard that one before, but I think I had heard, but had forgotten, this: at the Paris peace conference, the British offered the French either the Canadian territories or Guadeloupe and Martinique. The French went for the sugar, and an ailing Pitt the Elder railed for hours in the House of Commons, from a litter, pausing periodically to be reinvigorated by cordials, against the Whigs' great folly of accepting the lump of rock and snow.
