Check-swing; did he go?
Nov. 2nd, 2005 11:29 pmHigh temp today, here: 11. Dewpoint then: 2. High dewpoint: 4.
High temp today in TO: 12. Dewpoint then: 2. High dewpoint: 3.
My hypothetical Strike Probability Meter seems to have been defective. I'm not sure whether or not this has any bearing on Kant's contention that "a hundred real thalers do not contain the least coin more than a hundred imaginery thalers."
Strike Probability Meter currently reads, oh, let's see: 60%. But that's down from last night's 90%. I gotta hand it to the revolutionaries--they know how to work a meeting.
If you're thinking about when to schedule your dissertation defence, and you'd like not to be worrying too much about it in the week beforehand, I can't recommend highly enough that you schedule it four days after a strike deadline.
That is, if you'd like not to be worrying too much about what will happen in the defence.
Worrying about whether the defence will happen, well, that's a whole other story.
(I wish I knew for sure whether I would think quite so poorly of the revolutionaries if not for this little conflict of interest.)
Somehow, I managed to re-read Kafka, "The Judgment", today. And you know, I think this one's really growing on me. But maybe it just suits my mood. Still, I'm not particularly looking forward to having to talk about Kafka tomorrow, if there is a tomorrow.
Also, even more amazingly, managed to re-read Heidegger, "The Essence of Truth". Unfortunately, it did not clear up my problem with essences. If only he'd gotten around to writing "The Truth of Essence".
