Today's bugs

Currently at Toronto Pearson: 13. High today: 21. Warm front slowly edging its way into SW Ontario--summer due to arrive here approximately Wednesday....

Today in the backyard: the chives are blooming:

Still no groundhogs.

Green bottles: so annoying, but so pretty close up. )

This is the book you've been waiting for

Currently at Toronto Pearson: 13. High today: 15, at midnight--might get back there before midnight tonight. Dewpoint's up 13 degrees in the last 24 hours.

So, this afternoon a mail carrier pitched a heavyish red box in between our doors--and we have not ordered anything that I can recall, and so I think, present for me! ... implausibly enough. I open the box and find ... well, some kind of a present for me. For some reason, Humanity Books sent, to my home address, two copies ("for sharing", the cover letter says) of this:

If you like the cover, you'll love the supplementary material. )

At the beginning of the book there is the following note: "The author invites professional analytic philosophers to begin Hating Perfection with the Postscript, page 361. Continental philosophers and 'lay' readers who like storytelling will likely prefer to begin at the beginning."

The Postscript is subtitled "How We Know that Other People Have Consciousness and a Chinese Room Would Not". The first chapter is called "The Handbag". Groovy.
